Carl, Jimmy and Sheen around a twonkie

Twonkies are an alien life-form from the comet, Twonkus 3. They are initially small, cute, and friendly beings, but when they hear any soothing musical patterns, they evolve into hostile creatures.

They appear in the episode "Attack of the Twonkies", in the video game of the same name, and in the background in later episodes.

Behavior[]

In their first form, Twonkies are cute, gentle, and affectionate critters. However, Twonkies are enraged by the sound of any soothing music to the point where they will transform into aggressive monsters.

If they hear any music that is even remotely pleasant, Twonkies will start to cough, their eyes turn black and skin changes color, grow sharp teeth and arms and legs with claws, and ultimately become creatures known as Stompers which will attack the source of music (Carl doing his bending and stretching song, Hugh's puppet, Libby's radio at babysitting class, Miss Fowl's ABC song and Nick's opera song). Stompers remain hostile even after destroying the source of the music that transformed them. They behave very mischievously and will wreak havoc in every way imaginable due to their naturally impish dispositions. Should Stompers hear another source of pleasant music, they will quickly go after it in order to attack it. If multiple Stompers have gathered together, they can merge and evolve into a Mongro, a much larger and stronger beast.

Despite their violent reactions to soothing music, if Twonkies hear music that is utterly horrendous and cacophonous (Sheen's horrible singing), it will instead lull them to sleep. This will work on Stompers and Mongros as well. They are unable to resist falling asleep upon hearing Sheen's disturbingly tone-deaf voice. In the video game, the music makes them devolve.

Twonkies do not seem to be very intelligent, and Stompers and adults are even less intelligent. When they get upset, they pound the ground with their fists and roar.

Powers and Abilities[]

Twonkies can bounce around walls, camouflage themselves to any color, and have "excellent motor skills", able to proficiently ride a skateboard.

Mongros are durable enough to survive numerous types of weapons. Ion blasts, paralyzer beams, and many other rays could not even faze one. Mongros are also super strong, being capable of breaking through reinforced steel. Twonkies are able to sleep, and their skin color varies from blue to green to green with black dots.

In the video game, they're also capable of gaining the elemental attributes of electricity, ice, and darkness, gaining a different color in the process. Dark blue for electric, green for ice, and purple for darkness. Also, the Gromps will throw balls of whatever element they're tied to.

Evolution[]

Twonkies are evolutionary creatures. They can evolve into Stompers, which have sharp teeth, spiny skin, and claws. If several Stompers are allowed to unite, they can coalesce into a Gromp, an even more vicious adult form with searing red eyes and a gaping mouth adorned with several rows of sharklike fangs that will savagely attack anything and anyone that enrages it. In the video game, Stompers evolve into a juvenile version of the Gromps that looks like a gradual transition into a more prominent adult form. It appears that a Twonkie will be evolving into this form on its own if given a chance, but as a group, they can bypass this evolutionary stage by joining as one. If a Twonkie, Stomper, or premature Gromp hears more music, they evolve into the next stage.

Trivia[]

  • In many episodes following Attack of the Twonkies, Twonkies are seen in the background, due to Jimmy forgetting to send Sheen’s Twonkie back, and it produced offspring as a result. However, these Twonkies are not shown reacting to soothing music the same way the previous ones did in the episode and game.
  • Twonkies are parodies of the Mogwais and Gremlins from the 1984 movie "Gremlins" and its 1990 sequel. Just as the Twonkies change into monsters, once the Mogwais eat after midnight, and they turn into Gremlins.
  • Twonkies' name is similar to Furbies, though it not confirmed whether or not the name of the latter inspired that of the former.
  • Incidentally there was a sci-fi monster movie called that featured a monster called a Twonkie, which was a mechanical amalgam of mechanical appliances.
  • Their vocal effects are done by Frank Welker, who also did the vocal effects for Goddard, as well as the voice of "Stripe" from Gremlins.
  • In The League of Villains, a Twonkie that looked exactly the same as the one Sheen had was left 75 million years in the past with the villains and a dinosaur.
  • Every time a Twonkie transforms, its evolution hasn't entirely shown.
