Snappy is Carl's former pet turtle who appears in the episode "Monster Hunt", as the main antagonist.
History[]
Two years ago, Snappy was once Carl's pet turtle. However, due to being allergic to Snappy, Carl had to release him into Lake Retroville. However, Snappy would come into contact with toxic chemical sludge from Jimmy's Lab, which his father Hugh has been dumping into the lake the last few years, resulting in Snappy mutating into a giant sea monster. Over the course of several months, Snappy would lurk in the lake, being spotted by several townsfolks, and even attack Ms. Fowl and Sam Melvick at one point. As a result, the mayor offered a cash reward to anyone who could catch the monster.
While Jimmy, Sheen, and Carl were looking for the supposed lake monster with Captain Betty, and learning what Hugh had been doing, Snappy attacked their boat and ate Captain Betty. Luckily, Jimmy is able to cure Snappy and save Betty.
It's unknown what happened to Snappy after he returned to normal but as he was shown following the boys who were swimming back to shore it can be assumed he went back home with Carl. Who probably either got treated for his allergies, or just decided to learn to live with them because he loves Snappy so much. Other possibilities are Carl having to give him away due his allergies, or Snappy remained in the lake, although it is unknown if he ever was captured. "Attack of the Twonkies" and "Best in Show" would imply Carl no longer owns him or the other pets Carl had so it's possible Snappy may have before died before those episodes. Carl referred to him as a snapping turtle, which Snappy resembled when he was mutated, but when he was Carl’s pet and when Snappy was cured from his mutations, he resembled a sea turtle. He is the first known pet Carl owned as was seen in a flashback and the third pet introduced Mr. Wuggles and Swimmy appearing in "My Son, the Hamster" and "Beach Party Mummy" respectively. He would be succeeded by Kevin the miniature llama in "Billion Dollar Boy".
