New Dog, Old Tricks is the fourth Jimmy Neutron short made to promote the Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius film.
Summary[]
A rivalry and romance between a boy and a girl begins with a competition between two very different types of dogs.
Plot[]
This short is 1 minute, 28 seconds long and first aired on January 9, 2001. The short begins with Jimmy and Goddard walking in the Retroville park near the prospector statue and they bump into Cindy in a pink dress walking her dog Humphrey. Jimmy then complements Humphrey but Cindy instead calls Goddard Judy's blender. Jimmy then says he needs to walk Goddard before realizing the insult. Then Jimmy declares that Goddard is a custom-built cybernetic canine while Cindy brags that Humphrey is a purebred ''Lotsasmartso'' which is the smartest dog breed in the world. Then she says Humphrey won the Retroville Dog Show and can speak, which his bark then mimics human speech after Cindy commands him to speak. She then praises him. Jimmy in response says Goddard won the first prize at a science fair and commands Goddard to speak, with Goddard then saying ''Luke, I am your father!'' in a deep Darth Vader-esque voice, referencing the famous revelation from the film Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. Cindy then says Humphrey can fetch, which he does after she throws a stick. Then Jimmy says Goddard can fetch as well, but uses a shoulder mounted rocket launcher to fire a bone into the air. Goddard then uses the rockets inside his legs to catch the bone midair and return the bone. Cindy angerly tells Humphrey to play dead, causing the dog to dramatically stand on its hindlegs and scream while he falls on his back. Jimmy then tells Goddard to do the same with Goddard exploding and causing Jimmy, Cindy, and Humphrey to be blackened but unharmed. Cindy then picks up Goddard's detached head while Jimmy declares that he can fix that. Goddard then barks in Cindy's hands showing that he is alright with Cindy dropping the head in fright. The short then ends.

- This is the first time Goddard talks.
- This is also the first appearance of Cindy Vortex and Humphrey.
- There is a Star Wars reference where Goddard says "Luke I am your father". He even does Darth Vader's breathing sound.
- Cindy wears a pink dress in this episode.
- The scene where Goddard plays dead became an internet meme.
- In the teaser trailer for the movie, Goddard rebuilds himself after playing dead, and Jimmy wears his outfit from the pilot. Cindy's outfit is also different from the short.
