Jimmy Neutron is an animated franchise produced by Nickelodeon. It follows the adventures of Jimmy Neutron, an 11-year old boy genius and his best friends; Carl Wheezer, Sheen Estevez, Cindy Vortex, Libby Folfax, Nick Dean and Goddard

Development and History

Originally, Jimmy's name was going to be "Johnny Quasar" and he a larger forehead, but his name and designs were changed during development. Astrologist, John A. Davis created the character and joined forces with Keith Alcorn and Steve Oedekerk to make the series and the characters new name was "Jimmy Neutron". This is mainly because Jimmy's original name sounded too much like "Jonny Quest".

The pilot short, Runaway Rocketboy! was originally going to start the series, but the short was so popular, that Nick decided to make it into a movie and the series was made a year after the movie. The franchise was produced by O Entertainment and DNA Productions.

  • Jimmy Neutron is the second Nicktoon to become a franchise. The first was Rugrats. The third one was The Wild Thornberrys. The fourth was Hey Arnold. The fifth is Barnyard. The sixth is SpongeBob Squarepants.
  • It is also the first Nicktoon to be a computer-animated franchise; which would be followed by Barnyard.
