DNA Productions, Inc. was a full service animation company based in Dallas, Texas. It was founded by Keith Alcorn and John A. Davis in 1987. Archives of the DNA Productions website (dnahelix.com) indicate that the name DNA is "an anagram of the owners' names, Davis-n-Alcorn."
DNA produced the Jimmy Neutron franchise. DNA also produced and directed animation on the Emmy nominated holiday special, Olive, the Other Reindeer, and wrote, directed and produced the 3D animated Christmas special, Santa vs. the Snowman.
The company was shut down in 2006, shortly after the release of The Ant Bully, which was a lackluster failure. This may be part of the reason why Jimmy Neutron was cancelled, but there are no official sources to confirm the rumors of a 4th season. Many of the employees who worked at DNA moved to Reel FX Creative Studios after the closure. Some of the staff moved to O Entertainment and founded the animation department Omation.
Their mascot was a three-eyed monster-like monkey waving to the audience against a beach backdrop as he says, "Hi, I'm Paul!"
Logo Variants[]
There are different variations of the closing logo. The logo variations are as follows:
- Paul jumps up and says, "Hi, I'm Paul!". This is the standard version. Seen from all episodes and as well as the Jimmy Timmy Power Hour trilogy.
Double Your Pleasure[]
- Two Pauls jump up and say, "Hi, we're Paul!" at the same time. Seen from The Junkman Cometh, The Incredible Shrinking Town, and Who Framed Jimmy Neutron?/Flippy.
Bi-lingual Paul[]
- Paul jumps up with a small, barely visible hat and a fake mustache on and says, "¡Hola, soy Pablo!" followed by his mustache falling off. Seen from The Mighty Wheezers/Billion Dollar Boy, Stranded, The Evil Beneath/Carl Wheezer, Boy Genius, and El Magnifico/Best in Show.
Backwards Masking Paul[]
- A reverse of the normal logo (with a different take of Paul's line). Seen from Foul Bull/The Science Fair Affair, Jimmy Goes to College, and The N-Men.
Paul Blooper #1[]
- Paul forgot his line as he jumps up, smiling, and confused as he says, "So what do you want me to say now?". Seen from Attack of the Twonkies, Lights! Camera! Danger!, Who's Your Mommy/Clash of the Cousins, and The Trouble with Clones.
Paul Blooper #2[]
- Paul forgot his line the second time as he jumps up and says in confusion, "Hi, I'm... Line?" In the DNA Productions logo, the logo becomes brighter, and the bush molecules grew more. Only seen from My Big Fat Spy Wedding.
Coffee Break Paul[]
- Paul is nowhere to be seen, and a man off-screen says, "Paul?" Seen from Men at Work, The Tomorrow Boys, Fundemonium, One of Us/Vanishing Act, and How to Sink a Sub/Lady Sings the News
- Before Paul's idents, there was a logo with Helix, the male purple two-tailed cat-like creature with tails making a DNA helix and wearing a laboratory coat, in a black/chestnut/orange circle that said, "DNA PRODUCTIONS INC." This logo was used for the pilot.
