Plot[]

Jimmy and his family (plus Carl and Sheen) head to his Great Aunt Amanda's birthday party. Jimmy tries to give his relatives his inventions made in his lab to impress them, but they refuse, due to his inventions backfiring such as the walking pants and the Yolkians

Eventually, they finally accept his inventions, but they explode. Jimmy's baby cousin, Eddie then cries making Jimmy's parents and his relatives (except Gomer) believe that Jimmy is the one who destroyed their presents. Jimmy's angry parents and relatives send Jimmy in the house as punishment, even though he is innocent, and he didn't do anything wrong. They don’t believe him and Aunt Amanda then harshly tells him to take Goddard as well.

Realizing that explosion might’ve come from another possible genius in the family, Jimmy does a DNA scan to figure out who could have made his presents explode with Carl and Sheen helping him out. However, this all falls down to the baby, Eddie. The windows and the door shut tight, and the room becomes dark. To their horror, Eddie cackles and traps Jimmy, Carl, Sheen and Gomer in electrified fun rings. It is revealed that Eddie is actually very intelligent and even possesses the ability to speak. Jimmy realizes how naïve he was because he only scanned for the adults, never guessing that an infant could be as smart as him (if not, smarter).

Baby Eddie then reveals his plans to murder the whole family by placing a bomb in a cake the Neutron family will enjoy in the reunion and be rich with the Neutron's fortune and he locks Jimmy, Gomer, Sheen and Carl in his nursery room.

However, the gang are able to escape before Jimmy and Goddard race outside just in time to remove the bomb before it explodes immediately! Jimmy and Eddie fight, but everyone except for Gomer, Carl and Sheen gets even more angry at Jimmy for this. However, Jimmy reveals he rigged Eddie's rattle to explode in their struggle and Eddie throws it away before he can be harmed. Eddie then angrily yells at Jimmy for causing his rattle to explode, inadvertently exposing his true nature in front of the rest of the shocked family. Amanda is outraged that she immediately proclaims Eddie to be a "bad seed" and Jimmy to be "the good nephew" while the relatives all cheer for Jimmy. Aunt Kari apologizes to Jimmy for her treatment of him and Jimmy advises his aunt to start keeping her son on a baby leash, which Eddie (vowing revenge against Jimmy) vehemently protests.

Jimmy's parents and the rest of Neutrons also apologize to Jimmy for their treatment of him, especially for not listening to him about Baby Eddie. Jimmy is ultimately congratulated for saving everyone and they all continue partying at the reunion.

Trivia[]

  • The Neutron family sang Happy Birthday in the tune of the hallelujah song.
  • Uncle Newt from "My Big Fat Spy Wedding" made his second appearance.
  • It's revealed that, at least when it comes to Hugh's side of the family, Jimmy's disliked by most of his relatives due to all the trouble he and his inventions cause.
    • By the end, Jimmy is accepted by them for stopping the evil machinations of Cousin Eddie.
  • This is the only time that all of Jimmy's known relatives (except for Granny Neutron) are seen together.
  • The title's name is a play on Clash of the Titans.
  • As most of Hugh's side of the family had only been seen in this episode, Hugh mentions Judy's side of the family, which implies that Hugh's in-laws and Judy's cousins are unseen.
  • Cindy and Libby don't appear in this episode.
  • Jimmy's relatives mention the events from "Normal Boy", "When Pants Attack", and from the movie.
  • This and "Who's Your Mommy" are the last episodes to use the original intro in airing order. Also, they were produced after "Lights! Camera! Danger!" and before "Stranded".
  • This is the second time Hugh gets mad at Jimmy. The first time was "Aaughh!! Wilderness!!".
  • This episode reunites Rob Paulsen and Tress MacNeillle, who were the voices of Yakko and Dot Warner (respectively) from the classic '90s cartoon Animaniacs.
  • Aunt Amanda has a running gag of having food on top of her head, such as having a bowl of bean salad on her head after falling and the birthday cake on her head while Jimmy and Baby Eddie were fighting.
  • Several descriptions for the episode mistakenly refer to Aunt Amanda as "Aunt Maybelline", including on Paramount+.
  • Although this episode was released in 2005, you can actually see "Copyright 2003 Viacom International, Inc." at the end of the credits. This means that the episode was produced in 2003.
  • When Aunt Amanda tries to accuse Jimmy of harming Baby Eddie, this was a reference to the real-life death of 9-week-old Australian baby Azaria Chamberlain.
  • This episode reveals Carl's allergic to wheat.
  • This is the second episode in which a villainous kid is disciplined by their parents. The first is Eustace Strych in Billion Dollar Boy.
  • When Jimmy was grounded to Eddie's room, a scanner device can be seen on the toy chest in the background, foreshadowing his true nature.

Errors[]

  • When the Neutrons were singing happy birthday, Gomer can be heard singing along despite being inside the house at the time.
