Big Brain Sheen is the genius alter ego of Sheen Estevez who appears in the episode, titled "Sheen's Brain." After an experiment gone horribly right done by his best friend, Jimmy, Sheen's intelligence continuously increases only for it to be discovered that it will grow infinitely. Due to this, his brain, along with his head begins to slowly but quickly expand, thus giving him strong, God-like brain powers.
Background[]
Sheen, before the experiment, has just failed a history test. Ms. Fowl calls him in after grading his paper, which he receives an “F----.” She tells him that if he doesn't pass the following day's math final, he's going to be left back. Jimmy promises him that he and Carl will not let Ms. Fowl leave him back and that they'd help him study if it takes all night. When they get to Jimmy's house, they try every possible thing to help Sheen study, but Sheen spends the whole session goofing off and all else fails. In one final attempt, Jimmy decides to turn the Brain Drain 8000 Helmet into a Brain Gain Helmet, and it works, causing Sheen to become a genius.
The next day, Sheen walks in late and acts completely egotistical and rude to everybody but passes the math test within seconds of receiving it. When questioned when he suddenly became "so smart," he replies "Since yesterday," then proceeds to give a class lesson on chemical compounds and planets. When Ms. Fowl asks him to sit down as the class agrees, Sheen suddenly begins sounding evil and basically tells them their tiny-brained insults are nothing to him. Then, he cackles very evilly before tricking Ms. Fowl into letting him play hooky, causing Jimmy and Carl to throw concern into the wind. Jimmy tricks Ms. Fowl as well and rushes back to his lab to convert the helmet back. Carl reveals to Jimmy that Sheen is at the Candy Bar, but to hurry due to the fact that things were beginning to heat up.
Sheen is now revealed, where his head has now grown to an enormous size, and he orders Sam to give him a free Sundae after correctly guessing the number of jellybeans in a jar. Sheen then hears Carl's thoughts, right as Jimmy arrives with the Brain Drain helmet and tries to convince Sheen to put it on. When Sheen refused and tried adding that everyone loves the 'new him,' everyone disagrees unanimously causing Sheen to yell "SILENCE!" as he waves his hand, causing all the power in the candy bar to shut down while thunder sounds. Jimmy cautiously tries to get Sheen to put the helmet on a little more, but after once again refusing, Jimmy reluctantly gets Butch and Nick to grab him in order to hold him down. However, Sheen has now gained psychic powers and refuses to give them up, which he then uses to punish Jimmy by telekinetically throwing him across the room, not before cackling with a horrendously evil laugh. He then telekinetically launches both Butch and Nick across either side of the room, as Sam then returns with a sarcastic remark toward Sheen. But Sheen ignores this while he rises up off his chair, as he announces his plans for world domination until he reached the ceiling. He then conjures up a ball of lighting in his hands, launches it at the ceiling, and through the giant hole that he just made, he flies off into the sky at vast speeds.
Meanwhile, Jimmy and Carl go back to the lab and realize that Sheen's I.Q. will keep growing to infinity which will soon result in his head exploding if they don’t get the brain drain helmet on him in time. The skies are now a stormy grey, and Sheen is now suddenly seen floating over the now desolate streets of Retroville, his head now grown larger than a life-sized Statue. He first waves his hand once, disassembling a truck, then blows up a fire hydrant, then destroys a hotdog stand, launching the guy behind it out of site. Sheen then levitates and eats a hotdog, telekinetically pats a napkin over his mouth, and continues on before he sees a black and gold statue in the park, which he then reshaped into a throne. When Sheen floats over to the throne, he sits on it, flies it over the streets of Retroville, and demonically gets everyone's attention with a loud booming voice, before declaring himself Retroville's overlord. He then announces his plan to pick a Queen, which he chooses Libby against her will. However, she agrees once he bribes her with robes and jewelry.
Jimmy and Carl try to trick Sheen into putting the helmet on, by disguising the Brain Drain as a crown. However, Sheen reads Carl's mind, and he decides to punish them by using his new reality-warping powers to torture them despite Libby's protests. Jimmy and Carl try to warn Sheen about his brain growing at a dangerously fast pace, but he refuses to listen and continues to torture them. After bringing in the darkest skies imaginable on this and throwing balls of lighting at Jimmy and Carl, he then uses his brain powers to transform the ground below them into quicksand with a thunderclap after Jimmy attempts to stop his lighting. As his powers increase, Sheen abandons his position as an overlord and he declares himself a God, as he draws lightning and thunder from the sky. Libby leaves him in a huff and Sheen tries to go after her.
In one final attempt to drain Sheen's brain, Carl and Jimmy disguise themselves as Ultra Lord to convince Sheen to change back and despite his new intelligence, Sheen's easily fooled. They try to convince Sheen to put the helmet on, but Sheen refuses to take any orders from them, and then it causes him to brutally strike Jimmy and Carl with a lightning bolt from his brain. Sheen floats over to Jimmy and Carl and he sees them lying on the ground, believing them to be dead. This causes a distraught Sheen to realize that his new powers have turned him into a monster, and he finally renounces his powers and intelligence by telekinetically floating the helmet back on his head. Sheen drains his own brain, restoring himself to normal and the town turns back to normal, as well. Sheen realizes that Jimmy and Carl are alive and then he apologizes for everything he did. Jimmy and Carl accept his apology, but this doesn't stop Sheen from getting his comeuppance, as he starts getting painfully zapped by the Ultra Lord costume.
The next day, after Sheen answers the chemical name of salt wrong, he shrugs it off, and despite passing the math test and not being in danger of being held back, he tells Jimmy and Carl that he's glad about not being a genius anymore. However, when his friends invite him over for TV watching, he declines and tells them that he has accepted a job offer for the money, which he promptly starts, albeit with plenty of spelling errors.
Powers & Abilities[]
- Infinite intelligence
After putting on the Brain Gain helmet, Sheen’s intellect began to drastically increase, granting him intelligence and mental abilities that are beyond extraordinary. This unfortunately, however, also resulted in his brain continuously (and drastically) increasing in size, and had Sheen not put on the BD 8000, his head would have eventually exploded as a result, killing him in the process. Upon Jimmy and Carl discovering this, it showed his I.Q. would grow to infinity.
- ESP (Extrasensory perception)
Within one night of his intellect increasing as a result of the BGH, Sheen had shown to have obtained knowledge that would normally take others weeks, months, or even years to gather, indicating possible omniscience.
- Telepathy- In the scene where they first reveal Sheen’s head to have grown, he orders Sam to give him a free Sundae right before revealing he heard Carl’s thoughts. He then proceeds to read his mind again later on in the episode after he had declared himself overlord, where Jimmy and Carl try to fool him into putting on the brain drain helmet by disguising it as a crown. Sheen figures out their plan by reading Carl’s mind.
- Telekinesis- The way Sheen maneuvered most in this episode was through TK. In the scene at the Candy Bar, he reveals his TK when Jimmy tries placing the brain drain helmet on him after ordering Butch and Nick to hold Sheen down. Sheen, now angered concentrates on Jimmy, causing him to fling across the room breaking up the floor beneath him in a straight line while doing so. This was followed by evil laughter before Sheen projects Butch and Nick off of him on either side of the room as well. He uses his telekinesis to also destroy a truck with one wave of his hand, a fire hydrant, a hot dog stand, which he floats down a hot dog, telekinetically spreads mustard across it, floats the hot dog into his mouth, then floats a napkin over his mouth to pat it clean. He then reshapes a golden abstract statue into a throne. He also uses it to pick up Libby onto his throne, to lift Mrs. Fowl, Sam, and Butch into the air while spinning them around. He uses his TK to keep his throne afloat in the air, to throw a bowling ball at Carl and Jimmy, then eventually to lift the helmet up into the air and onto his head.
- Electrokinesis- In the Candy Bar scene, Sheen claims everyone loves the new him, where everyone unanimously disagrees with him, causing him to yell “SILENCE!!” before waving his hand and shutting down the power in the bar, followed by a thunderclap. He then escapes a few minutes later by flinging a ball of electricity at the ceiling, then throws balls of electricity at Carl and Jimmy mid episode. At the end, he is able to draw lightning as well and then zaps Carl and Jimmy with an electric bolt from his brain. When turning the statue into a throne, electricity pulses throughout his finished creation.
- Levitation/Flight- After projecting Jimmy, Butch, and Nick across the room, Sheen’s hair is still wiggling, which he then gets out of his seat and begins to rise upward surrounded by his own energy. Using his telekinesis, he allows himself to rise higher and higher, however, he gets stronger causing the energy around him to dissipate. He then fires said electricity ball at the ceiling, creating a giant hole, and proceeds to fly through it at insanely vast speeds. He is then seen with a head the size of a life size statue floating through the streets of Retroville, when he destroys the truck, fire hydrant, hot dog stand, and reshapes the statue into his throne.
- Weather control- Sheen eventually becomes so powerful and his brain grows so big, he eventually declares himself God. Upon doing this, he announces that he controls the wind and shall reign fire down from the heavens.
- Aerokinesis- Multiple times at the beginnings of Sheen’s mental abilities, he is able to cause thunder to sound. When he silenced everyone at the Candy bar and shut down the power, thunder clapped following his exclamation. Upon floating through the streets wreaking havoc, the sky had turned a dark grey. Upon declaring himself overlord to the citizens of Retroville, he gets their attention with a loud booming voice backed by a large thunderclap. After Sheen is angered by Carl and Jimmy trying to trick him, he yells “SILENCE” again, followed by another thunderclap, causing dark red clouds to form above him and fill Retroville skies. He sounds thunderclaps when he causes quicksand to form, and when he declares himself God while drawing lightning.
- Matter creation- Sheen is shown to have made things appear with his mind. First, while firing balls of energy at Jimmy and Carl, he pulls a hand mirror out of pure nothingness, and looks at himself while going “Dance, you tiny brains!” Before projecting another lightning ball just from his thumb. Following that, he puts his arms out causing quicksand to appear below Jimmy and Carl.
- Reality Warping- Sheen in this episode is able to change his voice into something loud, booming, and demonic. He first does it when getting attention of all the citizens to declare his position as the town’s overlord, then at the end when he is ordered to put the helmet on before zapping Carl and Jimmy with a lightning bolt. He has also changed the sky’s appearance, caused matter to form, declared himself 2 levels of deity, and caused said lightning bolt to form with his brain after his brain lit up yellow.
- Matter Manipulation- Regarding the statue. Sheen put both his hands out in front of him, causing a 2-part statue both gold and black to meld into one piece and look totally shiny and new without any bend marks. The black base was used as the main part of the chair where the gold part was used as accents throughout. Upon completing said creation, the chair pulsed with electric charges.
- Immortality- There's no way to know if he just meant that her legacy would eventually live on, but Sheen assures Libby that if she stuck with him as his Queen, she'd become immortal, implying that his powers have allowed him immortality as well, despite the possibility of his head exploding. His entire head, face included, would grow in size with his brain to accommodate it, causing no logical way for his head to eventually explode. Thus, granting him possible immortality just solely based on how truly powerful he'd been becoming. Not to mention, he was so powerful, he declared himself God toward the end.
Personality[]
Upon having his IQ drastically increase (and to continue do so afterwards), Sheen becomes an incredibly megalomaniacal entity who not only has an extremely short circuit, but is also incredibly pompous and arrogant. He also becomes rather sadistic, finding joy in torturing, intimidating, and injuring civilians (including his own friends) while fueled by anger and vengeance. He has little to no mercy for anyone who crosses him and will use his powers and intelligence to intimidate others.
When he first gained his intelligence, everything had been fine until the next day, where he walks into the classroom to take his test and gets every answer right within seconds. During this time, he walked in with a completely egotistical personality and referred to his classmates as nitwits due to their lack of matching intelligence. Of course, when prompted of when he became so smart, he proceeds to show off by continuing to interrupt the test period to give the class an unsolicited lesson on planets and chemical compounds. When Mrs. Fowl leads the class in telling him to sit down, he maliciously remarks that their tiny-brained barbs are worthless before cackling evilly and tricking his teacher into letting him leave. When his brain first started doubling in size, he was seen at the candy bar talking down to Sam and ordering him to give him his free Sundae after correctly calculating the number of jellybeans in the jar. When Sam refused, Sheen prided himself on the fact that he's a genius now and condescendingly ordered Sam to give him his Sundae while referring to him as "Monkey boy." When Jimmy and Carl try getting him to put his helmet on, he'd refused while saying he's seeing things clearly for the first time and domineeringly remarked that everyone had loved the new him in a celebratory stool spin. However, when they denied him, he yelled "SILENCE" and used his new mind powers to shut down the bar's power.
Sheen's signature response to his sadistic kicks, has often been evil laughter. Not only did this happen in the classroom after waving off being told to sit back down, but upon being held down by Butch and Nick in the bar per Jimmy's orders, he had telekinetically flung Jimmy across the bar as he ripped up the floor, followed by ongoing evil laughter. Then, later in the episode, he telekinetically rolled a giant bowling ball at jimmy and carl, causing them to knock and fling like pins, which follows him evilly cackling.
